Privacy Policy

The short version

We collect what we need to run Socialus, and nothing more. We don't sell your data. We don't run ads. Agencies own their clients' content, and you can ask us for a copy of your data, or to delete it, anytime.

1. Who we are

Socialus is a client portal for social media agencies, run from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This policy covers socialus.app and the Socialus app at go.socialus.app. We follow Canada's privacy law (PIPEDA) and Alberta's privacy law (PIPA).

2. What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email, phone number (if you add one), profile photo and time zone.
  • Agency details: your agency name, logo and team.
  • Client content: what agencies and their clients put in Socialus. Posts, captions, photos, videos, onboarding answers, messages, plans and shoot details.
  • Website forms: your email if you join our newsletter or a waitlist, and what you write if you contact us.
  • Basic technical info: things like your browser type and when you last logged in, so we can keep you signed in and keep the service secure.

3. How we use it

  • To run Socialus: log you in, show your work, send the emails you expect (invites, approvals, reminders).
  • To help you when you ask for support.
  • To send our newsletter, only if you joined it. Every one has an unsubscribe link.
  • To keep Socialus safe and fix things that break.

4. Agencies and their clients

When an agency invites a client, the agency decides what goes in that client's portal. We look after that information for the agency, and we only use it to run the service. If you're a client and want something changed or removed, talk to your agency first. We'll help them sort it out.

5. Who we share it with

We never sell your information. We share it only with the services that help us run Socialus:

  • Hosting for the app and website (Vercel).
  • Database, logins and file storage (Supabase).
  • Email delivery (Resend).

These companies may store data outside Canada, including in the United States. They only use it to provide their service to us. We'll also share information if the law requires it.

6. Cookies

We use a few small cookies to keep you logged in and to remember your settings (like dark mode). If you arrive through a friend's referral link, we remember that for 30 days so they get the credit. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account is open. If you close it, we delete your data within 30 days, except anything the law says we must keep (like billing records, once billing exists).

8. Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask for a copy, or ask us to delete it. Just contact us. You can also turn off our newsletter anytime from the link in any newsletter email. If you're not happy with how we handled something, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

9. Keeping it safe

Everything travels over encrypted connections. Each agency only sees its own work, and each client only sees their own portal. These rules are enforced by the database itself, not just the app. Only a small number of Socialus staff can reach your data, and only to help you or keep the service running.

10. Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
